Investment Planning

Investment planning for families with special needs children is not easy. Deciding on a specific asset class is difficult as the care of a special needs child is life-long. Many families tend to be risk averse and do not consider volatile investment options, like equities. Others may go heavily into real estate for a regular income from rentals.

How To Identify lifetime care cost of the child?

The bigger challenge for any special needs child family is estimating the cost with accuracy. This is not so easy considering the lack of awareness about the child disability due to which it’s difficult for parents to know future cost of child care. In such situations, only a reasonable estimation can be done in the initial life stages of the child. A more near accurate estimation is possible when the child becomes an adult and the expenses move towards a static figure.

Retirement Planning

Retirement planning for special needs families is for two generations- One for the parents and the other for the special needs child. It’s not a simple straight planning for retirement. Various situations may arise before retirement. These depend on the type of disability, and include questions like availability of sibling support, whether there are adequate resources or are the facilities in the city adequate to consider special needs child support for years etc. How you will cope with these situations will decide how well you are prepared for retirement years. The webinar covers the process of identifying your financial requirement in retirement years and how to plan for achieving it.
